About
Full implementation of the career pathway model was implemented in the fall of 2011 at all the district high schools. There are currently 13 Pathway choices for all students in the district. The launch of this new Pathway or Linked Learning, will give students additional opportunities to explore career possibilities. All Porterville Unified high schools have developed plans to provide current and incoming students a variety of choices from environmental science to business and health, agriculture, performing arts and engineering. Teachers, counselors, district personnel, and outside resources are working together to develop rigorous course offerings that meet A-G requirements for students who participate in Linked Learning. In spite of the uncertainty in the state budget, the district is dedicated to building capacity for Linked Learning with additional funding from private grants.
Granite Hills High School is very proud to offer three outstanding pathway experiences for its students. Whether the pathway of choice is Computer Operations & Development Education (CODE), Law, Justice and Ethics (LJE), or Academy of Careers in Education (ACE), students will experience an exciting, innovative and powerful learning environment. Granite Hills students have the opportunity to apply what they are learning in a project-based, “real world application” instructional program. By combining demanding career technical training with rigorous academic standards-based teaching, the goal of Granite’s pathways are for students to graduate and be college and career ready with a greater advantage of postsecondary learning options, whether college, technical, or workplace.
