Course Description:
Biology is a college preparatory couse that includes the study of cells, genetics, population dynamics, ecology, classification of living things, and plant and animal physiology. This class meets the UC and CSU "D" requirement and addresses the California State Science Standards. Students will keep an AVID interactive notebook with all classwork and laboratory activities. Students will take the Biology CST in the spring.
Prerequisites: Algebra 1P and Integrated Science 1 P.
I highly recommend completing Chemistry P or Integrated Science 1 prior to taking Biology. The cell and genetics units incorporate a lot of chemistry knowledge, so students with chemistry in their background are much more successful.
