Opportunities outside of class:
Each year students have the opportunity to participate in field research at Circle J Ranch in Springville. The lab portion of AP Environmental Science is partially satisfied by field work done at this facility. Some of the trips are day trips that biology and chemistry students may choose to attend along with the environmental science students. The big event is the Field Science Weekend to be held November 5 & 6 this year. Several schools from around Tulare County participate. We will leave on Saturday morning and head to Circle J Ranch where students are assigned to a research project with about 7 other students. Each team will have a leader who is a real scientist in a particular field of study. We will spend the night at SciCon and return to Circle J on Sunday for some community service projects on the ranch.
Included here are some photos from past years at Circle J.
Two years I took a small group of students to Florida Keys and the Everglades during Spring Break. We learned so much and had so much fun swimming with dolphins, snorkeling, visiting a sea turtle hospital, and walking among wild alligators! Last year during Spring Break I took a group of students to Costa Rica! The students had such a great time we are going again! Will you join us? Spring Break 2017 Costa Rica
